Mill Cottage Bunkhouse (REVIEW) | Northumberland National Park

Mill Cottage Bunkhouse was a lovely place to stay for a night as part of my UK National Parks tour. A cosy 6-bed dorm next to the family home owned by Phil and Julie.

On arrival, I was taken back at how lovely and cosy it felt. The small lounge area is decorated with pictures and comfy cushions making it feel very welcoming.

From the lounge, you go past two shower rooms, both with toilets. Then around to a small galley kitchen with washing facilities, handy if you are there for a couple of days.

Then up the stairs, you will come across the dorm room, with 6-beds tucked within the beams of the roof. But each with their own light and curtain for privacy which is a lovely touch.

Mill Cottage Bunkhouse Overall Thoughts

I had a really lovely stay at the Bunkhouse. I was lucky enough to only be sharing with one other person that night. Although I feel that having six people staying might be quite a tight squeeze. However, when I mentioned this to Phil he said that one group liked the accommodation so much they managed to fit a seventh person in. I have no idea where they would have slept!!

It really felt very homely whilst I was there, even just for one night. And it’s always great to have good self-catering facilities to cook your own meals. There are even a few basic food items in the cupboard and fridge, bread, butter, tea and coffee which is a lovely touch.

Phil and Julie were lovely hosts and were only next door if there was a problem.

Would I stay here again?

Yes, I absolutely loved my visit to Mill Cottage and would certainly stay again.
