Becky Angell | Hill + Mountain Guide | UK

Becky Angell

about becky

My name is Becky Angell, I’m a qualified Summer Mountain Leader Guide in the UK.

I have been hiking in the UK for many years. It started with day hikes, then my first long-distance trail, Hadrian’s Wall, in 2010. However, it wasn’t until I started going on solo adventures that hiking became a massive part of my life!

If you are looking for a hill or mountain guide in the UK, I have plenty of hiking experience to take you on a wonderful adventure. The main locations that I specialise in guiding are the Peak District, Lake District and Eryri (Snowdonia), but I can also arrange hikes in other locations in the UK, from the South Downs, Chilterns, Brecon Beacons and beyond.

I love the Peak District, I also have a website with over 90 walking routes for you to explore! Visit peakdistrictwalks.net here.

I’m passionate about wildlife and nature, and although I don’t know the name of every wildflower or bird in the hills, I’ll do my best to find out! My style of walking and guiding is to share as much about the environment as I can I’ll go at a steady pace, but I won’t be racing around the hills (unless you specifically want that!)

If you want to see a flavour of my adventures and what I get up to, then you’re welcome to check out my social media channels. I’m pretty active on Instagram, but also share a few of my adventures via Facebook.

I am available as a hill and mountain guide, which means you stay safe on your walk and can focus on the views, nature and socialising instead of looking at a map.

Feel free to get in touch, and we can chat more about what you want to do.

As a UK Summer Mountain Leader Guide, I’m qualified to lead groups in the mountains for both day hikes, overnight adventures or multi-day trails.

I’m a member of the British Mountaineering Council and Mountain Training Association, which means I’m kept regularly up to date on any mountain news. I also keep up to date through news and social media on places in the UK.

You can find me registered on the Mountain Training Association here – Search Becky Angell.

The Mountain Leader qualification also means I’m a qualified Outdoor First Aider, I carry a Mountain First Aid Kit with me at all times, as well as other emergency equipment.

guided walks + hikes

Hiking is an activity I’ve done more and more over the last few years, it really is addictive!

There are three areas of the UK you can find me regularly, that’s not to say I don’t visit other places too!

My local National Park is the Peak District, I’m often out hiking there, and I have a second website, Peak District Walks, which you might have tried one or two of the routes from.

I also love the Lake District, in May 2021, I completed my first round of the 214 Wainwrights, and yes, you’ve guessed it, I’ve started my second round because I love exploring it so much!

And the third place I have a passion for exploring is Eryri (Snowdonia), in 2019, I completed the toughest challenge – The Welsh 3000s and since then, I’ve wanted to discover more of the beautiful Welsh National Park.

Looking for a guide for a day hike, then please get in touch and I’ll happily plan a great adventure for you.

London ladies’ Peak District group hike

“Becky was an absolutely amazing guide.  I came across her website purely by chance and since my very first communication with Becky she was brilliant as so helpful. She took time to understand what we wanted from our walk and . customised an all day walk for our group that started and ended at our accommodation which was so great.  We thoroughly enjoyed our walk and Becky was so diligent in planning this for us. At one point the weather turned and Becky was very good in looking after for us all and ensuring we were okay.   We had such an enjoyable day and have been lucky to have found Becky.  We look forward to more walks with Becky in the future”.

wild camping adventures

Over the last few years, I have clocked up more than 100 wild camps in the UK, mostly in the Lake District and Snowdonia. But there have been some dotted in other places too, like the Peak District, Scotland and the Jurassic Coast.

In 2019, I hiked across Britain and wild camped on the way. Out of the 57 days on the trail, I camped 40+ nights, including 20+ wild camps.

I love wild camping and I’ll regularly go on solo adventures! The important thing about wild camping is doing it the right way, therefore, I’m passionate about sharing my skills and teaching people how to wild camp the right way!

I can offer bespoke wild camping trips where I will show you how and where to wild camp.

long distance trails

I’ve mentioned this a couple of times, but I have a love for hiking long-distance trails in the UK. To date, I’ve walked some of the classic trails in full as well as sections of other trails. Here are the trails I’ve completed (so far!)

  • Coast to Coast
  • Hadrian’s Wall
  • Pennine Way
  • West Highland Way
  • Jurassic Coast
  • Norfolk Coast Path
  • Derwent Valley Heritage Way
  • Cumbria Way
  • Bob Graham Round
  • Beacons Way
  • Snowdonia Slate Trail

Hiking a long-distance trail isn’t for everyone; it takes a lot of planning and preparation, but in my opinion, it’s worth it!

I offer support in planning your adventure as well as a full guided option to save you from doing all the hard work. Please get in touch, and we can chat about what you’d like to do.
