New Zealand is one of my favourite countries. Both the North and South Islands are stunning and have so many beautiful features. I wasn’t lucky enough to visit Purakaunui Falls during my time on the South Islands but hey I can always go back.
The beauty of New Zealand is a place you have to experience for yourself. It’s a wonderful country to visit if you like hiking and the outdoors. So probably one of the reasons I visited!
As an amateur photographer, trying to master using my own Nikon SLR this photo caught my attention. The technique used to create the blurring of the water is a skill I have been trying to master for a little while. And whenever I spot a waterfall on a hike it’s another chance to try out my skills. Here’s one of my attempts on Instagram from the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.

Exploring the spectacular Purakaunui Falls
“This picture was taken in the Catlins, we were on our way to one of the most spectacular waterfalls in New Zealand – McLean Falls. But after going deep into the forest we discovered another stunning waterfall, the Purakaunui Falls.
This southern region of the South Island may seem a bit off the beaten track, but it’s a true gem! Mysterious forests full of countless waterfalls, the picturesque Pacific shore, wild animals… Nothing seems better for all nature-lovers!
Here you will have a chance to see extremely rare yellow-eyed penguins, clumsy seals and mighty albatrosses. Stay on the beach and explore the Cathedral Cove, one of the greatest sea caves in the World. You will never get bored in the Catlins!” Magda Bielawny
