Information About the Walk

Are you new to hiking and not sure what to wear or what to bring with you?

Read of my post here which tells you what to wear and bring on a day hike in the UK.

What to Wear For the Walk?

  • Please check the weather on the day of the walk and dress accordingly.
  • I would recommend hiking trousers or leggings and layers on top to keep you warm plus a hat and gloves.
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers

What to bring on the walk?

  • Please bring a small rucksack (20-25 litres is perfect) to carry some snacks, water, any personal medication. Plus waterproofs (you might be wearing these!)

How Many People Will Be in the Group?

I will be limiting the numbers to a maximum of 8-10 people per walk. This is so I can get to know you but also so we have a nice sized group.

Can I Bring my Dog?

If you would like to bring a dog, please contact me beforehand, so I can make sure the rest of the group is comfortable hiking with a dog.

If you’re not comfortable around dogs, let me know, please.

What Will be Organised?

I will organise the walking route, including navigating the walk, so no need to bring a map and compass (feel free to bring your own).

I might bring some sweets to share but don’t forget your own food and drinks

What you will need to do?

You will be responsible for getting to the start (on time) and with the right hiking clothes and gear according to the weather conditions!

Read the post above if you’re not sure what to wear or bring or ask me any questions.

Check the latest weather here

How Much Does the Walk Cost?

I will be volunteering my own time and transport costs for the walk. This is to build on my Mountain Leader training that I’m currently undertaking (please note I’m NOT a qualified leader at present).

I will aim to organise one free walk per month.

In return, I’d love you to have fun and share any photos on your social channels.

How to Join the Walk?

Let’s keep it simple.

If you want to join the walk please confirm either via email ( or DM on Instagram @beckythetraveller

Once I’ve heard from you, I will let you know the START POINT

All I need is your phone number, this is so I can set up a WhatsApp group to communicate final plans for the walk, including any last-minute changes, weather updates. This is optional, please let me know if you do not want to be added (I can message individually).

We can also use the group for sharing any photos afterwards.

Please note, since this is walk is FREE to join, I have no liability for any injuries that may occur.

This is the equivalent of joining friends for a walk (which I hope we’ll be after the walk). You are all responsible for your own well-being and ensuring you’re properly equipped.

You are joining the walk at your own risk. I know that sounds scary, of course, it’s a walk, not skydiving but I wanted you to understand that I hold no public liability insurance at present.

Thanks, Becky
