E2W Challenge - How to join the walk

Hiking United Kingdom

E2W Challenge – How to Join? | Plus Giveaways + Winners

The E2W Challenge is getting closer, in fact, it’s so close I’m starting to feel nervous. But hopefully, those nerves will help get me walking those 800+ miles!

If you’ve not read about the challenge yet, you can read my post here about why I’m walking 800 miles across Britain?

The short version is that on 20th May, I will be starting a massive walk across Great Britain from the furthest easterly point in Lowestoft to the furthest westerly point in Ardnamurchan Lighthouse with fellow travel blogger and podcaster Ian from Barefoot Backpacker.

My goal for the hike, as well as finishing, is to get as many people as possible to join. I use the outside as my detox, to help my mental health. I’ve suffered from bad depression, in the past and for me, getting outdoors is how I manage and keep it at bay (or try to!)

We will also be raising money for Mind Charity.

We would love for you to join us on the hike.

Seriously, don’t be shy. We aren’t going to be speed walking, in fact, with 15kg of hiking and camping kit on my back there’s a good chance you’ll be walking faster than me!

You’re welcome to join for an hour, a few hours, a day or even a few days. Don’t forget your camping gear if you want to join us overnight – my tent is a one-man! Check out my recommendations here via Amazon.

It’s the getting outdoors that counts!

Awesome Giveaways

E2W Challenge - Sponsors

Some of our fantastic sponsors have offered us a few prizes to give away to people who are joining our hike.

What better reason could you have for joining!

We will have specific days that are sponsored by our partners and if you join us on one of those days you’ll be in with a chance of winning a prize on that day. Yippee, sounds good right?

The great thing is that everyone who joins us on the E2W Challenge will also be in with a chance of this prize. Woo woo!

We also have some fantastic metal water bottles and lunch boxes from Sigg UK, tasty snacks from Top Herd, we have a couple of day packs from Osprey and some great Water-to-Go filter water bottles.

How can you win?

Peak District Insta meet
Meeting with Instagrammers in the Peak District

Firstly, you need to join me on a hike.

Whether it’s for 30 minutes, 3 hours or 3 days it still counts as being outdoors πŸ™‚

I’m keeping things simple, well because I’m also going to be hiking, camping, videoing and photographing on the route. Did I mention that I like to keep busy haha?

When you join us then all you need to do is get a number from me. This will be in the form of me writing a number on your hand (I did say it would be simple).

How will the winners be announced?

*Winners will be picked by a random number generator

  1. Instagram via Insta Stories @beckythetraveller

Here are the proposed dates (so far) and meeting points for where and when we will arrange meetups on the walk.

We will be adding more so the best thing to do is follow me on social media as I will be sharing the most up to date locations via our Facebook Group – E2W Hiking Challenge (Join now if you’ve not already done) and Instagram via Insta Stories – @beckythetraveller

The meeting times may vary, depending on the location, ie. some may be in the morning whilst others will be in the afternoon.

Training walk in the Peak District

A few things to bear in mind:

  • We are making a feature film about the walk – If you’d rather not be on camera please let me know πŸ™‚
  • These dates may change – especially the ones later on the walk
  • I will update this page but due to poor signal I may not be able to do daily
  • The most up to date information will be shared via Facebook Group and Insta Stories
  • We will be walking in one direction. You will need to either arrange transport or walk back to the start point when you decide to leave us.

If you want to join us, what do you need to do? Again, keeping it simple I will share the date, time, location and meeting point.

All you need to do is turn up (on time please). I’m afraid we won’t be able to wait if you’re late.

Feel free to message me to let me know you’re coming (optional). It would be good to know if we have 1 or 10 people joining!

Oh, and if anyone could give us a lift back to Fort William that would be really helpful! Smiles hopefully πŸ™‚
